L.A. Food Guide

I'm only putting my favorite places to eat on this site. So "good" isn't enough. In my opinion, these places go above and beyond to cook great food for you.

Unlike other corporate review sites, I present candid reviews of restaurants in Los Angeles, focusing mainly on the San Gabriel Valley - my home. I am not compensated anything for my reviews.

(This site is still in progress.)

In the future, I might add my favorite places around the world to eat.

Baldwin Park

They have the best salsas in town. A few years ago, I had a bad customer service incident. Since then, the staff have been very friendly and kind. They also have very good tortillas. It appears that they value freshness and quality. (Some times, however, they run out of their tortillas.)

I recommend their carne asada tacos with guacamole.

Their marlin tacos are also very good.

Covina

Restaurant Hayakawa

This is the best Japanese restaurant I know in the San Gabriel Valley. I used to think it was Osawa in Pasadena, but my last visit there proved that it wasn't amazing.

They have very high standards, and it shows up in their food. It's really a great value for what they offer.

I recommend the tempura sushi combo here.

I admittedly found this place, because Jonathan Gold reviewed it. I love fresh noodles, and I tell people that nothing beats fresh noodles - whether they're Asian or Italian. I ordered their dry Zha Jian Mien, and I also ordered their xiao long bao (dumplings). Highly recommended and not expensive at all.

Best lamb I've had in the United States. Get the lamb skewers. I also got the noodles. Very good service. Nice tea.

San Gabriel

Bhanu Indian Grocery & Cuisine

I think this place has the best Indian food in Los Angeles and its area. The service here was wonderful. I took my mother here for her birthday, and the staff gave her free dessert. It was her first time having Indian food, and she really loved it.

I highly recommend the garlic naan and butter chicken combo.

President Thai

The food and service here are excellent. I've had the Pad Thai, their soup, and their lunch special beef. Their beef was incredible and juicy with a nice cilantro sauce. Lunch has the best value.

Also, I lost my jacket here one night. And I wanted to mention that the staff went above and beyond their call of duty to make sure I got it back.

Los Angeles: Korea Town

Soowon Galbi KBBQ
Korean

This is my favorite Korean restaurant in Los Angeles. The ribs and meat are so amazing here. The service has also been really good. And their side dishes are amazing too! It's a little bit more on the expensive side, so come here for a special occasion.
